Greetings Bruin Warriors,
Soon our team will embark on the 2026-27 season. Challenge season/ Tryouts will start Monday, August 10th which is the first week before school!
The coaches and I are looking forward to it! I hope you will have the chance to realize your own potential as tennis players, and people, and contribute to the outstanding tradition of Cherry Creek tennis.
We will be offering our CC Tennis Academy Summer Camps series beginning June 1st through August 6th leading up to the beginning of school/challenge season on August 10. You may visit the following website, for information, dates and times. CAMPS WILL BE HELD AT WEST MIDDLE SCHOOL DUE TO CCHS TENNIS COURT RENOVATION. There will also be UTR match play throughout the summer in both doubles and singles through Greenwood Village Summer Flex Leagues. I STRONGLY ENCOURAGE ALL PLAYERS WISHING TO COMPETE AT ALL LEVELS, AND IN CLUSTERS, TO ATTEND THE SUMMER AND PRE-SEASON CAMPS, AND UTR EVENTS, TO MEET PLAYERS, COACHES, AND SHOWCASE YOUR TALENT!
On Thursday, August 6th, we will have a Players Meeting at 4:30pm in Shillinglaw Lecture Hall in West Lobby next to West Cafe, followed by a Parents’ Meeting (New parents of the program are especially encouraged to attend) at 6:30pm to explain our program. The Creek Court Club (booster club) will also be presenting at the meeting. Late August we will have our annual Pre-season social event (date and location TBA).
All players must attend the 8/6 meeting to receive vital information about the upcoming season. CHALLENGE SEASON/TRYOUTS WILL BEGIN THE WEEK BEFORE SCHOOL STARTS ON MONDAY, AUGUST 10. CLUSTER MATCHES WILL BE PLAYED TWICE A DAY (tentative time slots 9am, 11:30am, 2pm, 4:30pm), Monday-Friday, and possibly Saturday at THE CCHS TENNIS COURTS. Approximately the top 40, and invited players, will participate in cluster play at CCHS to compete for Varsity Teams. If you start below this threshold, you have the chance to work your way into Clusters by continuing to play, and win, your Challenge Matches!
Also during this week, all Ladder Challenge Matches will be played at a time, and place, agreed upon by mutual player agreement. Each day of the first week, every ladder player below Clusters will have a minimum of one assigned challenge match to play as well, at an agreed upon time and site. If possible, players are encouraged to play more than one match per day. School courts are used for Varsity 1, Varsity 2, and Varsity 3 tryouts/practice, and interscholastic matches. Challenge matches will, most likely, need to be played at another location. ALL PLAYERS WILL NEED TO BE AVAILABLE FOR PLAY, CLUSTERS AND CHALLENGE MATCHES INCLUDED.
The athletic online registration for 2026-2027 sports will be available in July on the Cherry Creek High School web site – click on the Athletics tab on the top right. This will take you to the Athletics website! Or you can go directly to: https://cherrycreekhs.rschoolteams.com/ Choose Athletics Registration, and follow the instructions.
Athletic fees, current physical, online registration, and an Arbiter account are all required prior to being cleared to practice/try out. Detailed instructions are on the Athletics website. Athletics registration for Fall 2026 will open around June 1st for existing students, and July 1 for incoming students. If registration is not complete before the end of the business day on August 7th, you will not be on the 1st day of the ladder or be able to participate in cluster or challenge matches until your player registration is complete.
For those on the ladder, it is our expectation that you will play at least one challenge match per day starting August 10th, which will be assigned on the computer ladder on the creekboystennis website. You and your assigned opponent must arrange the location and time of your match. A login and password for the player portal will be provided to all players before challenge season begins. These matches hold a great deal of significance including your overall improvement as a player, your ranking on the team, and they will help the coaches determine who will play in interscholastic matches.
Doubles Clusters will be assigned one full round, CONSISTING OF 3 FULL NO-AD SETS, with matches at TWO DIFFERENT FLIGHT TIMES. The varsity teams will hopefully be determined by late August.
IT IS LIKELY THAT POSITIONS ON THE VARSITY TEAMS WILL NOT BE DETERMINED ENTIRELY BY CHALLENGE MATCHES, LEAVING ROOM FOR CHANGES THROUGHOUT THE SEASON, DETERMINED BY MATCH PLAY, PRACTICE DETERMINATION, THE BEGINNING-OF-THE-SEASON TOURNAMENT, AND COACHES’ DISCRETION. THIS WILL BE IN EFFECT FOR ALL VARSITY TEAMS. THE COACHING STAFF RESERVES THE RIGHT TO MAKE CHANGES TO THE VARSITY LINE UPS AT ANYTIME THROUGHOUT THE SEASON.
Finally, please be advised that this year, like every year, serious and worthy champions await us. Be assured that the coaches, players, and supporters of CCHS tennis will work their hardest to maintain the proud tradition of this program.
