GLOSSARY OF TERMS

Challenge Ladder: A numerical ranking system used to determine overall season positions. Players compete via either clusters or singles challenge matches.

Cluster: A grouping of 4 players that will compete via either singles or doubles in match play to determine a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place that will then affect overall ladder ranks.

Singles clusters are played out in either pro-set or best of 3 format; wherein the highest ranked player in the cluster plays the lowest, while the second and third ranked players play simultaneously. The winners of each respective match will play against each other, as will the losers. The player who wins 2 matches will advance, while the player who loses 2 matches will drop down a cluster.

Doubles clusters are played in a format similar to a “Top Dog” style of play, where each player in the cluster will play ONE NO AD SET with every other player on the court, totaling 3 sets. The player with the highest tally of games will advance one cluster, while the player with the lowest tally will drop down a cluster.

Player Code: Each player will be provided a 3-letter code at the beginning of their freshman year. These codes are compiled using the first 2 letters of the last name and the first letter of the first name of the player (Example: John Smith -> SMJ). In the event that the code for your name is taken, the first letter of the last name and the first 2 letters of the first name will be used (Example: Jordan Smith -> SJO).
